Project Destined Intern
Department: JLL Houston
My experience
Overview
You’re given a team, and with that team you will be assigned a property by the program. You and your team will create a canva presentation to pitch to the judges the property’s market and sub market, it’s surrounding area, current financial aspects, and how you can improve the property to increase in revenue to attract tenants and investors. You also get the opportunity to join a financial modeling class to learn how to create excel worksheets that relate to the world of commercial real estate.
If you want to shine in this program you have to SPEAK. I made the mistake of not speaking at all but I am going back into the program this summer (which from what I heard is a great time to be part of the program).
Pros
Huge network to connect with peers and professionals in the industry including company’s execs, the Financial Modeling Masterclass, Great introduction into real estate for those looking to get into the business, Perfect gateway for a future internship in real estate, finance, accounting, etc.
Cons
If you really want to win, there are bad team members who will do nothing. This usually leads to you or others picking up the slack for them which leads to bigger work load. If you want to prevent this I suggest you speak up to your manager to get dead weight kicked out.
Impact of work
Time spent working
How did working remote affect your experience?
It didn’t have a big affect on the experience, besides that fact that you will be able to at least meet people over a longer distance.
