My experience
Overview
Red Hat Enterprise Linux networking and setup custom servers. A lot of how defense contractors operate in the engineering realm, how the engineering design process actually works outside school, how engineers and supervisors expect projects to be run. Nuances (dos and donts) of federal contracts.
Loved it. The culture is extremely friendly and welcoming, it’s just overwhelming at first to learn the federal side of engineering.
Pros
Always busy, coworkers very friendly, always willing to give work if you’re bored
Cons
Restricted to citizens who can get a clearance. Almost exclusively in person, so if you’re wanting remote work, you won’t get it as a hardware engineer
Would recommend it to people who...
Are veterans, enjoy delving into Linux, and enjoy a lot of troubleshooting
Impact of work
Time spent working

Interview questions
Project based questions to see if you’ve been doing things on your own outside of school. Also asked school exam type theoretical questions in the EE realm.
Advice on how to prepare
Have or currently work on your own personal project exercising your newly learned engineering coursework in some method. Show a process, show documentation, and show you’re hungry to learn.
