Engineering Intern
Department: Engineering
My experience
Overview
Contrary to what was posed in the job offer, I spent most of my time doing menial labor in the manufacturing department or accepting customer service calls through Grasshopper. I got to do a small amount of Unity work, but not much impact was made and no real engineering experience was acquired.
Seriously, the CEO is the worst part about this company. He was consistently the worst part about this job and I would pay to not have to work with him. He has no respect for anyone except for himself, refuses to ever admit when he's wrong, and invaded the personal space of interns without consent many, many times. I'm not sure how much detail I can go into, but think unsolicited shoulder massages. Just gross.
Pros
No dress code, somewhat flexible schedule
Cons
CEO is very handsy, invading the personal space of interns - ESPECIALLY female interns - on multiple occasions. The company has no HR department to report this to, so unfortunately most had to stay silent. Contrary to the job offer, interns don't get to gain any real engineering experience beyond a small amount of basic soldering and a lot of drilling, as most interns are relegated to manufacturing. Any research work you do get to do will surely be interrupted by a lecture from the CEO about why you're doing it wrong. Finally, interns were fired without prior warning towards the end of the job for "attitudes detrimental to company culture".

Advice on how to prepare
If they need interns you'll get the internship. They don't pay much attention to actual qualifications because they'll demand you learn everything on your own in a few weeks anyways.
