Quality Assurance (QA) Engineering Intern
Department: Home Networks/Broadband
My experience
Overview
Pulling data from repair database to generate AFFR reports in Excel, reading and understanding failure analysis reports, finding the root causes of issues using the 5 Whys method and pareto charts, and writing lots of emails.
80% of your coworkers are going to be older people (40+), so be okay with talking to people who are older than you. They're all super friendly though. Since CommScope is a global company, you'll frequently be on conference calls at weird times like 7am and 7pm.
Would recommend it to people who...
Are interested in electronics, but not quite sure what area. This job gives you a good overview of all the different aspects of engineering that go into producing a cable modem. You have to be ok with working with large sets of data and willing to learn. If you don't know how to do something, they'll teach you.

How did working remote affect your experience?
Working remote kinda sucked since I wasn't able to meet anyone face-to-face, but the workload was definitely easier because of it. I don't they will continue remote after Covid.
