Manufacturing CO-OP
Department: Manufacturing Engineering
My experience
Overview
I'd come in around 7:30 (I'm an early riser). My boss typically would come in around 9:30 so I would fiddle with stuff I had been working on the past day, take a extended coffee break, and take a walk around the manufacturing floor. When my boss was there he would either ask me to just follow him around and help with whatever, and some days he would ask me to focus on a project. Some days I would be welding a frame (pretty neat, they taught us how to wig weld). Some days I would be checking or making CAD drawings on PTC Creo. It varied lots.
Would recommend it to people who...
Need any type of engineering experience, especially with little to no experience. Or someone who is interested in controls and robotics. (My boss does a lot of cool projects with FANUC robots, all over my head.)
Would NOT recommend it to people who...
Have lots of experience in something other than manufacturing and have no interest in engineering in general.
