Software Engineering Intern
My experience
Overview
Every intern in technology does get a project, but it varies a lot with the team your're on. Some teams give you a project right away after having already planned out what they want you to do, and other teams (like the one I was on, which got interns for the first time) had to figure out a project with me after I joined. Still got a project, just spent the first half of my internship doing other stuff like stories and generally learning whatever I could.
Great as an internship, just not somewhere I'd want to work full time due to personal reasons.
Pros
Hybrid, Typically good projects, Pay (for detroit), Everyone is very friendly
Cons
My team was disorganized, but this seemed uncommon. Full time pay is also not great
Impact of work
Time spent working
How did working remote affect your experience?

Interview advice
How did you find the job / apply?
Interview Rounds
Interview type
Interview questions
1. Hirevue/ self recorded video responding to prompts 2. 30 minute phone screen with recruiter 3. 1 hour semi-technical phone interview with a director and senior engineer. No coding but was grilled on personal projects and CS knowledge.
Advice on how to prepare
Phone screen and hireview are easy and nothing unusual. For the final semi-technical interview, be prepared to talk a lot in detail about leadership activities, decision making experience, and 5-10 projects (big or small). It felt like they wanted to hear about everything I've ever done and I was asked about design decisions and what I learned/liked/disliked.
