Embedded Software Intern
Department: Continuous Integration
My experience
Overview
Worked on a Scrum team and would pick up tickets just like anybody else. I created a Jenkins Job to automatically approve revert requests on Gitlab. Created a framework for plotting unit test results using python machine learning toolkits and Flask for the website. Heavily used PostgreSQL to improve the efficiency of one of the CI analytics websites by 98%.
Pros
Worked closely with the full time members of the team. Was able to make meaningful contributions to the codebase.
Cons
The team was not very skilled, I was one of the strongest software developers and had to spend a lot of time walking through how to develop in python with the employees.
Impact of work
Time spent working
How did working remote affect your experience?
The employees worked very hard to make me feel included by hosting virtual events and scheduling meetings with me, but it made it challenging to form strong connections.
Interview advice
How did you find the job / apply?
Interview Rounds
Interview type
Interview questions
Started off with behavioral questions. Moved into technical with programming a queue, then more theoretically how I would design a traffic intersection and an elevator.
Advice on how to prepare
Need to be outgoing, talk to them at a career fair and just be nice to the interviewers, they are all great people.
