SRE Intern
Department: DotCom
My experience
Overview
Write a (Go) backend that communicates with GCP to scale Cassandra DB servers for testing purposes. Afterwards, we were asked to build an API to interact with this back end, which is then connected to a react front end. This front end lives in staging, then was to be moved up to production. We also set up a small database to keep track of requests, when they began and when they should be rolled back.
Ask for help if you get stuck. Everyone is willing and able to help; Intern is a valued title at the company.
Pros
Great Culture, Decent pay, Good remote program, lots of Networking with fellow interns and executives
Cons
Since it's remote, you need to be a self starter. Everything is easier if you know someone who is a returning intern.
Impact of work
Time spent working
How did working remote affect your experience?
We spent nearly 1 week in Atlanta during the beginning of the program to do some networking and onboarding events. Overall, the engineering team is fully remote so you don't feel left out.

Advice on how to prepare
There is an associate program (field-to-ssc) to help store employees get to the SSC. Use that if it applies to you!
