My experience

Overview

Performed material take-offs of structural steel for construction projects either issued for bid or somewhere in the design phase, communicated with vendors to get prices for services we don't self-perform (erection, joist, detailing, etc.)

Pros

Almost always something to do, got to see active construction sites with project managers, great coworkers and other interns

Cons

I found the work repetitive at times, but that's the nature of the job
