Engineering Intern
Department: Freestyle
My experience
Overview
I would mostly help design parts for Freestyle dispensers to address/correct a common problem. Sometimes this was creating a whole new component or adapting an old one. Often had to undergo a thorough design process with multiple design reviews and iterations before a concrete solution was created.
Take it upon yourself to explore projects and reach out to team members to learn about the work they're doing. Everyone is working on something niche and this is the best way to get involved on a variety of projects and get the most experience
Pros
Lots of flexibility, the managers are incredibly warm and inviting, the whole team is easy to work with, managers are open to hearing what you want to work on and adjusting your workload if you feel overwhelmed or like you're not doing enough, your work is very impactful and will likely actually be put into implementation or be the precursor for something that is implemented, you get the opportunity to work across a lot of different projects instead of just one thing which grants you a lot of exposure, managers are also flexible if you want to take vacation days
Cons
Sometimes the co-op program felt a bit unorganized but it is a new program so that is to be expected and will probably be corrected, the work was not necessarily thrilling or exciting but was great experience in corporate industry engineering
Impact of work
Time spent working
How did working remote affect your experience?
Less hands-on experience and missed out on office dynamics which were a lot of fun with this team. We were only remote as a result of COVID. Still got the chance to design, order, and work with parts and electronics though.
Interview advice
How did you find the job / apply?
Interview Rounds
Interview type
Interview questions
Mainly behavioral questions and questions related to items on my resume including clubs, extracurriculars, and passions/pursuits. Asked what my technical background was and if I had any relevant technical skills but wasn't totally necessary
Advice on how to prepare
Be ready to talk about your past experience/projects, especially things that are listed on your resume. Experience in team settings would probably help. Show genuine interest in what Coca-Cola does as well as an openness to learn
