Software Development Intern
Department: VersionOne
My experience
Overview
Focused on styling and UI components for the Summer 2019 release. Work on creating a dark theme, styling using LESS to make it easier to change large sections of the app. Worked on porting components in the app from common Material Components to our own version of said components. Also helped fix bugs in multiple areas of the app using C#, JS, and React
There was a heavy focus on pair and team programming here, which was very interesting, but kind of got a bit tiring at some points. We used our own product, VersionOne to track our project in an Agile style, but we didn't do the full Agile style, didn't really have sprints or velocity, just had one major release per quarter. Still had retrospectives every other week
Would recommend it to people who...
Interested in web development, for lack of a better term, full-stack development, people who are interested in pair programming, working as a team, and agile development
Would NOT recommend it to people who...
People who want to work solo on a project, people who do not enjoy web frameworks, or people who want to do lower level programming
