Software Engineering Intern
Department: Model Engineering
My experience
Overview
Created a system that let modelers create models in python and execute them in the traditionally Java trading system (previously, modelers would hand transcribe their models from python to Java)
This is absolutely among the best internship experiences anyone can have, absolutely recommend it!
Pros
Lots of events, super impactful project, everyone was always willing to help and go above and beyond
Cons
It didn't feel like I was really working a lot of the time - which generally is great... But this gives you a false impression of what full time work looks like
Impact of work
Time spent working
How did working remote affect your experience?
It was a bit harder to interact with the other interns, but Two Sigma did a fantastic job of hosting many events each week to help us interact!
Interview advice
How did you find the job / apply?
Interview Rounds
Interview type
Interview questions
Hackerrank: 2 questions, (1 medium, 1 hard) 90 minutes Phone Screen: 1 medium question, 30 minutes appx On Site day 1: 3 round technical (a mix of harder medium questions and easier hard questions) On Site day 2: 1 technical (it was a behavioral and very relaxed technical interview in one) and 2 behavioral rounds All onsite rounds were an hour each (6 hours total onsite)
Advice on how to prepare
Be confident leetcoding, they expect pretty much perfection in the interview process (if you're asking for a hint, that's a reason to DQ you from the process). Be knowledgeable on anything a technical interview can be asked about: linked lists, trees, graphs, heaps, etc and algo stuff too, including DP
