Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
SLS Intern
Department: Region 4
My experience
Overview
I consulted with researchers, EPA air quality specialists, and community members to develop an air sampling plan for a community in Southwest Atlanta.
I liked it for my first internship. My boss allowed me to have a very flexible schedule: I could work from home and choose which 2 or 3 days I wanted to come into the office. Despite it being a valuable experience, I don't think I would want to work in the air pollution industry just because there are so many factors, and it is not as easy to test for pollutants as water or soil, for example, are.
Would recommend it to people who...
truly want to better the environment and enforce the laws and regulations erected to preserve the environment
Would NOT recommend it to people who...
do not like interacting with many people; imperative to go out to the community that you are helping/working in
