Software Engineering Intern
My experience
Overview
I worked within an intern team to build a React Native application for a company Slalom has consulted with before. It was basically an "intern experience"-type project to ease us into the idea of consultant work and was very informative about that type of career for CS.
This internship is a great opportunity to build soft skills because there is a lot of communicating with full-time employees and the outside company you're building the project for. My intern team would also have multiple meetings a week just to talk to different employees there about their jobs and career advice.
Would recommend it to people who...
Care about strong company culture and colleague relationships, Are willing to learn new skills on the fly, Want opportunities to be creative while working
Would NOT recommend it to people who...
Want clear, direct instructions given to them each day
Impact of work
How much knowledge or experience was needed going in (pre-requisites)?
Time spent working
How did working remote affect your experience?
It was probably as good as it could be with the internship going online so last minute. They definitely put in effort to adapt to it.

Advice on how to prepare
Don't be a resume robot. The behavioral interview is super important for them and they mainly just want to have a good conversation with you whether it's about your past CS projects or your hobbies
