Overview
for the first month or so, I learned the systems. For a period of time I was a piece in the assembly line for new hire paperwork. Now I am project based and put out fires/strategize projects and find ways to organize them. Really though, every position is super different because there are so many departments. You could get selected for any of the,.
Don't knock it until you try it. Great people work here, my boss is super smart. The government gets a bad rap a lot, but there are diamonds in the rough. If you can show initiative or a general willingness to work, you could quite honestly find yourself making 6 figures within 5 ish years. Think the government is slow and unwilling to change? That is why we need the next generation to step in and start making change.

Advice on how to prepare
They are about to start posting for summer internships. If it goes well, you can stay on part time through the school year. They are very flexible with student's schedules.
