Mechanical Co-Op
Department: ISP
My experience
Overview
Worked a lot on pricing and estimating jobs. As the terms go on you start getting involved in the project management side of the role and assisting clients and field crews to get the jobs done.
People respect and trust you when your trust is earned. If you're a hard worker who is focused on producing results, this role is for you.
Pros
Company culture is unique, the company feels like a small company even though its medium sized. The work you do matters, and the time upper management spends getting involved with the co-ops and teaching them the ropes is incredible.
Cons
For the quantity and the level of business especially in the department I'm in, the pay is lacking compared to other companies in Atlanta. Definitely something they need to dig in and update.

Advice on how to prepare
Being personable gets you a long way in project management, knowing that it isn't just mechanical knowledge that will get you a role is key. I'm very much not a mechanical engineer but I've done well in the role since they teach you what you need to know.
