Technology Intern
Department: Native Apps
My experience
Overview
I was embedded into the Native Apps team and worked with their iOS engineer to develop features, squash bugs, and rectify tech debt for the team. We were a dual-track agile product team, and it was run very well. I was able to have a significant impact on the flagship iOS application during my stent at CarMax.
I really enjoyed the culture and the team. For the internship in general, at the beginning you get to have meet-and-greets with most of the C-suite. There also is an Analyst Olympics and Innovation Garage that the interns are able to participate in towards the end.
Pros
Able to work directly on the team and the product
Cons
My entire team was remote so I never was able to meet most of them in-person
Impact of work
Time spent working
How did working remote affect your experience?
My entire team was virtual (except my manager) so when I did not go into the office, it did not significantly impact my experience.

Interview Rounds
Interview type
Interview questions
The first round was simply a phone screen and a technical test to take. The last round was 3 hours of continuous interviews: a social interview with other interns and engineers, a behavioral interview, and a technical interview going over the main question of the coding interview. I really liked how it was all laid out.
Advice on how to prepare
They are really looking for people that are able to succeed independently and think innovatively. For the technical interview, know why you coded the way you do because they will ask that question in multiple different ways from different perspectives.
